Our beloved village of Nederename, with its approximately 2,700 inhabitants, cannot exactly be called large but nevertheless you will find almost everything.

Visit Oudenaarde
For a cyclist Oudenaarde is a must. Every year sportive heroes cross the finish line of the prestigious classic race: the Tour of Flanders. But even if you do not feel like following in the footsteps of Philippe Gilbert and Peter Sagan, the city has a lot to offer.
Cycle your own Tour
You can relive the history of the Tour of Flanders in the Ronde van Vlaanderen Centre. For active cyclists, it is the ideal base for a spirited tour, as 3 loops of more than 100 kilometers start. Those who prefer things a little quieter can visit the permanent exhibition or unwind in the cozy Peloton Café.
Sporting challenges
Can’t get enough of a sporting challenge? In the adventure park The Outsider Flemish Ardennes, you can conquer the Blue Diamond climbing tower, train your arm muscles during a kayaking trip or enjoy a wakeboarding or water skiing session.
Cultural history
Lovers of culture can also indulge in Oudenaarde. The impressive St. Walburga Church, a fine example of Brabant Gothic architecture, rises above the center, and its historic buildings. The stately belfry is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And did you know that for centuries the city was famous for its tapestries? In the MOU – Museum Oudenaarde and the Flemish Ardennes you will find an impressive collection.
Unwinding in greenery
Would you like to recharge your batteries in peace? Then enjoy the silence while hiking in the idyllic hills and green valleys of the region. In fine weather, bring your picnic or stop by one of the region’s many authentic cafes and restaurants. Don’t forget brown beer, because that’s what Oudenaarde has been known for since the Middle Ages.
Climbing the Berendries
When you would visit Brakel you can explore the steep Berendries. The Berendries is one of the deciding climbs of the Tour of Flanders.
Here you should definitely stop at the cozy café “De StapperAlm” at Isabelle and Jeroen’s place. An ideal stop for both cyclists and hikers.

When the weather is nice, you can sit on the beautiful terrace, with stunning views of the Flemish Ardennes.
